If you were to ask my wife and most of her riding partners, the best mountain bike saddle for women is the Selle Italia Lady Gel Saddle. She has been riding this saddle for a couple of seasons now and we are seeing this saddle on more distance and touring bikes than any other saddle out there.

The Selle Italia Lady is a female specific bicycle saddle, which means its designed to match a woman's anatomy in a lot of different ways. The female sit bones tend to be a bit wider than a man's sit bones so the Selle Italia Lady is slighly wider in the rear than most saddle to provide extra support and comfort. It's not so wide though, that it would interfere with your pedaling movements and measures out between 150mm and 155mm in the seating area. Just right for most women.

The Selle Italia Lady also sports a female anatomy friendly anatomical cutout, which is a section cut out of the center of the saddle to give it a bit of flex and to remove pressure from the sensitive parts of the female anatomy. A leather cover surrounds a very comfortable layer of silicone gel for comfort and the entire thing is supported by a sexy titanium rail system.

Most women who use this saddle report that it is one of the most comfortable they have ever ridden. It's not a full race saddle so it isn't some uber-light high end piece of fiberglass but what it is, is a supremely comfortable saddle that is well built, carries a superb brand name, offers female specific bicycle saddle geometry and is an excellent all around selection for the average female cyclist.
